Introduction:
The General Manager will be based in Cape Town and will be responsible for the daily operations, strategy and goals of the company. They will report directly to the board of directors.

• Overall responsible for management of business including operations, human resources, marketing and finance;
• Provide leadership to staff and business, including good communication, ensuring strong operational and financial performance;
• Responsible to oversee operations to ensure operational efficiency, quality systems and products is maintained and all work complete on time;
• Responsible for all human resources functions including recruitment of staff, motivation and training, disciplinary procedures and termination of staff;
• Overseeing the sales and marketing function, developing of new markets and clients, visiting new and existing clients and appointing and overseeing sales representatives country wide;
• Maintaining good relationship with suppliers and sourcing of new suppliers;
• Overall financial management of company including budgets, financial control and monthly reporting (note strong support from directors on financial management);
• Preparation of annual business plan and budgets;
• Reporting to the board of directors on a monthly basis, including written monthly report and attending of meetings.
• Planning:
Collaborates with the board to define and articulate the organization’s vision and to develop strategies for achieving that vision.
Creates annual operating plans that support strategic direction set by the board and correlate with annual operating budgets; submits annual plans to the board for approval.
Develops and monitors strategies for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the organization.
Develops future leadership within the organization.
• Management:
Oversees the operations of organization and manages its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Creates and maintains procedures for implementing plans approved by the board of directors.
Promotes a culture that reflects the organization’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity.
Manages the human resources of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
Ensures that staff and board have sufficient and up-to-date information.
Evaluates the organization and the staff’s performance on a regular basis.
• Marketing, sales and public relations: (note strong focus)
Develop Marketing Plan aligned to company strategy.
Develop product catalogue and keep updated with new product development.
Visiting new and existing clients and personally handling the key accounts.
Developing new products and markets.
Appointing and overseeing sales representatives’ country-wide. Prepare sales quotes.
Keep website up to date and relevant.
Attend trade fairs and shows.
Manage advertising opportunities. Oversee Media/PR events and listings. Oversee content, production and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials (posters, program, flyers, mail outs, brochures etc.) with designer and project manager.
• Financial Management:
Develops annual budgets that support operating plans and submits budgets for board approval.
Prudently manages the organization’s resources within budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations. Provides prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the board appropriately informed of the organization’s financial position.
HR management:
Recruitment and contracting of company staff.
Employee development and training
Policy development and documentation.
Employee relations.
Performance management and improvement systems.
Employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting; and Board of Directors, including arranging meetings and agendas, attending and minuting meetings.
General Administrative:
Evaluate and control travel, entertainment and all discretionary expenditures and implement new written policies for these issues.
Review facilities and real estate issues, including a review of current lease requirements.
Review all equipment leases for cost cutting / improved technology opportunities.
Assures the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitors
compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Assures that the company and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.
