Purpose of the Role
The Shift Supervisor will oversee and manage all production activities within the assigned operational section on a rotational shift basis. This role is responsible for ensuring that production targets, safety standards, and operational efficiencies are consistently achieved in line with company and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operational Management
- Contribute to the development and execution of the business unit’s production plan.
- Formulate and implement monthly and daily production and safety plans for the section.
- Manage all production activities within the area of responsibility to achieve set targets.
- Control operational costs to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Continuously monitor and improve operational processes and systems to optimize performance.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, guide, and motivate team members to achieve operational objectives.
- Ensure all team members are adequately trained, informed, and supervised.
- Promote professionalism, reliability, and innovation within the team.
- Drive performance management and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Safety, Health & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement sound control measures.
- Investigate all incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and apply corrective actions.
- Ensure all employees are trained and competent in health, hygiene, and safety matters.
- Adhere to the client’s operating procedures, policies, and legal requirements.
Stakeholder Relations & Reporting
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with all stakeholders.
- Keep the Mine Overseer informed on developments, challenges, and progress in the section.
- Prepare for and participate in operational audits, ensuring implementation of corrective measures.
- Identify and support business development opportunities within the section.
